HOLD  DEMONSTRATION  IN  ALL  DIVISIONS  ON  28th  AS  PER  THE  CALL  OF  CENTRAL  JCA  AGAINST  ORDER  OF  ABOLITION  OF  17093  POSTS

Comrades are already in knowledge of the order of the Postal Directorate for abolition of 17093 departmental posts in our department and the call of holding countrywide demonstration by the Central JCA (NFPE & FNPO) on 28th December 2012 against it. It is needless to mention that our comrades will observe the program with maximum seriousness.

We would like to get it noted that this order should be identified as another blow on the entire working class and the unemployed youth of our country. More than 17000 youngsters would have earned their bread, with a smile on the lips on their anxious families, had the finance ministry and communication ministry not ordered to abolish these posts. This is an integral part of the policy adopted by the Central Government against the security and livelihood of its own citizens. Please highlight and connect this root of the present order during the demonstration.

The Circle Unions sincerely wish that everywhere in West Bengal, the program should be observed jointly by NFPE & FNPO. But we have doubts from our earlier experiences whether in all places in our Circle FNPO would come forward for a united movement. Our Comrades are requested to take preparation to hold the demonstration through huge gathering on our own strength so that the move of the department can be protested as per the call of th JCA. Please ensure sending the savingram given in the NFPE blog.

COURAGEOUS  COMRADES  WHO  IGNORED  ASSAULTS  AND  CREATED  HISTORY  ON 12th STRIKE

In addition to the report given below in earlier blogs regarding the success of the strike and the attacks on our comrades, Divisional leadership of South Hooghly Division has reported us another incident of courageous fight by our comrades to make the strike successful ignoring all threats.

Some local political goons threatened the staffs of Chapadanga Sub-Post Office (under South Hooghly Division) before the strike and directed them not to join the strike. But our committed comrades did not betray the unity and the clarion call of the strike and kept the office closed on 12th. The next day (13th), en route to the office, the SPM Com. Rabindranath Nandy and accompanying Postman Com. Kartik Chandra Kundu were interrupted on the way and both were severely assaulted physically. Another P.A. of the office, Com. Amitava Bera,  was also abused.

Comrades, please narrate these incidents during the recess hours' gate meeting today and convey these inspiring events to the last comrade of your division. These should strengthen our resolve more. The history of Postal movement is built up on the monument of such innumerable sacrifices and commitments. Let us reply back with our unity and make the coming strike in February an unprecedented success. Let us also identify the political power in our state that is acting violently against the interests of workers and common people.

OBSERVE  GATE  MEETING  TOMORROW AT  ALL  DIVL  HQs  TO  REPORT  THE  SUCCESS  OF  THE  STRIKE  AND  THE  COURAGE  OF  COMRADES  UNDER  POLITICAL  ATTACKS

Please go through the complete strike report below. Circle Unions request all Divl Secretaries to hold gate meetings tomorrow at recess hours to report the achievement of our organisation to make yesterday's strike successful, as reported below.
Yesterday's strike was made even more glorious by the courage and bravery of our comrades and their resolve to remain the office closed ignoring threats.
Another event has taken place today. There were threats by local political goons against the strike at Nona Chandanpukur S.O., North Presidency Division. All the comrades of the office still resolved to strike as per the call. During the strike, those political miscreants tried but failed to open the office, and stuck posters, political flags on the office wall and gate against the staff. Apprehending attack, our SPM (Postmaster, Grade-I) Com. Arunabha Dey intimated the Police today morning and the Police visited the office while opening. But after the Police left, at about 10:30 A.M., a long political rally entered the office and gheraoed Com. Arunabha Dey. Though he was not physically attacked, there was flood of abusive language, condemnation and threats. The miscreants left about after an hour leaving the office environment jeopardized.
We would request our comrades to bring this event into knowledge of all members to identify the political power actually acting against the workers' interest and in favour of the Central Govt in disguise. We also congratulate and thank Com. Arunabha and all staffs of Nona Chandanpukur S.O. as well as Divl leadership for their success to keep the office closed yesterday participating in the strike despite knowing the possible attack. Their commitment will inspire lakhs of workers in our country.

12.12.2012  ALL  INDIA  STRIKE  OF  CENTRAL  GOVT  EMPLOYEES ----- ANOTHER  DAY  IN  RED  LETTERS  IN  THE  HISTORY  OF  TRADE  UNION  MOVEMENTS  IN  WEST  BENGAL

The strike called by the Confederation in the Central Govt Departments in the country has set another history as the comrades and compatriots protested the anti-people anti-worker action and policies of the Central Govt through massive participation and a strike of grand success.
Our comrades took up exhaustive efforts since last few months for the success of the strike and held countless meetings throughout the circle in different shapes and forms. The pain and agony of the workers have been reflected today through spontaneous participation in the strike.
As the strike approached, there were floods of misleading news, malign and false propaganda against it. Today, literally the Postal service in West Bengal Circle came to a halt as our brave comrades appeared in front of the offices with slogans, banners and festoons from the morning, as early as 7 A.M. The presence and support of the senior leaders and comrades of Pensioners' Association like Com. R.L.Bhattacharya, Com. Binoy Chakraborty, Com. Manab Sen Sharma encouraged us. Comrade Shib Sankar Roy was day long busy in travelling in different offices and encouraging comrades of far-flung offices over phone.
In Kolkata City Divisions, the strike was remarkable as usual. Kolkata GPO was completely paralysed. Police Force was posted there and created pressure, but our dedicated comrades ignored it. No TD plied today from Kolkata RMS.  At Circle Office, only 12 members of other organisations joined at work, none else. In suburban divisions, the strike was even better than the one on 28th February. In North Bengal Region, the strike was successful despite presence of police and political interference. In Sikkim and Andaman, the strike was 100%.
At many offices, local political miscreants made the Police to come to our offices with the intention to fail the strike. At Jalpaiguri, Purulia, Kalyani H.O., Kolkata GPO Police came and tried to disperse the gathering of our comrades, but the courageous and daunting comrades remained firm and continued the strike and achieved success.
In divisions like Tamluk, Contai, Midnapore, Bankura, Purulia where political atrocities and vindications are frequent, comrades did not budge despite facing threats and attacks. In Tamluk, Com. Sambhunath Ghorai, Vice-President, Divl P-IV Union, was manhandled. In Nadia South Division, while conducting the strike at Kalyani, Divl Gr-C Secretary Com. Kaushik Roy and Com. Anup Biswas were manhandled by local political goons. These miscreants stayed there day long with continuous provocation, but our comrades continued the strike at Kalyani.
It is our experience today that though a section of administration conspired in connivance with anti-strike and anti-movement pro-government organisations in our department and during the strike, manifested their intentions through intrigues of variety, they failed to rally even their own membership. A large part of postal workers, though not our members, expressed their support to the 15-point demands openly and did not open their office. We also felt that a large part of the administration was convinced about the justification of the demands and were sympathetic to the plights of the workers.
Massive strike was noted in Income Tax and Central Excise departments. Good strike had been recorded in Central Form Stores and Stationary. We also noted that branches of many Nationalised Banks and Insurance Offices displayed banners in support of today's strike.
Circle Union congratulates all Divisional and Branch Secretaries, our brave and sacrificing comrades, Fraternal Organisations, our compatriots and supporters of the strike in West Bengal who contributed immensely for its grand success. Dedication of our leaders, united response of our members have shown today our readiness for the bigger strike on 20-21 February 2013 strike.
But the immediate task is to carry the news of success of this strike and bravery of our comrades to the farthest office. All Divl / Branch Secretaries are requested to congratulate and encourage all of our comrades by arranging tours to different offices and also by publishing leaflets. This is urgently required to hold the confidence and the spirit of the comrades high for preparation of stronger battle in coming days.

RED  SALUTE  COMRADES.

STRIKE!          STRIKE!!        STRIKE !!!
12TH DECEMBER 2012 - ALL INDIA CENTRAL
GOVT. EMPLOYEES STRIKE
13 lakhs Employees unitedly demand the Central Government to
CHANGE THE POLICIES
“WORKERS ARE NOT BEGGARS”

“ORGANISE”
“Organise if you want real living wages,
Organise if you want to have your working hours reduced,
Organise if you desire better treatment from you superior officers,
Organise if you want that the authorities should consult and consider your
opinion in    all administrative measures affecting you”.
- Babu Tarapada Mukherjee, 1921 Lahore Speech
“We must therefore, determine to have our pay increased and working hours reduced. We must fight and fight and fight strenuously to secure what alone can make life worth living. We must make up our minds whether we shall continue to live as human cattle or “take up arms against a sea of troubles and by opposing, end them”.
- Babu Tarapa Mukherjee, 1921 Lahore Speech
JAWAHARLAL NEHRU ON 1946 P&T STRIKE
“We have a very big gap between the cost of living and wages, and it is that gap which causes hunger and distress and ultimately strike. The point is that all over India there is that gap today and unless that gap is bridged, there will be industrial troubles. These can be bridged either by lowering the prices or by raising the wages. I see today vast fortunes accumulated in the hands of a few. On the other hand, the vast number of people are being faced with a heavy burden of prices. How are we to meet this question of strike? It is not possible or desirable to use the powers of the state (Govt.) against the strike”.
(Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru -Address to the Associated chamber of India in Kolkata on 12-12-1946).
“UNITY FOR STRUGGLE & STRUGGLE FOR UNITY
K.G. BOSE
“When the living conditions of the employees have been made critical by the accentuating economic crisis and the Govt’s persistent efforts to make the employees bear the burden of such crisis, when the discontentment among the employees are generating due to Govt’s refusal to come to the succor of the employees in such a critical living condition and when this discontentment is on the point of bursting out on surface particularly centering around the issue of Pay Commission - a great urge for unity among the employees and workers is being increasingly found manifest. The urge being found expression whenever call for united mass actions have been initiated in recent times to defend the living conditions and democratic rights of the workers and employees. Struggle for building up unity at the grass roots level, which can alone can ensure success at our struggles for higher wages for better living conditions and for democratic rights, is the key-task today”.
