CENTRAL TRADE UNIONS TOOK UP THE DEMAND OF CONSTITUTING 7th CENTRAL PAY COMMISSION
The Central Trade Unions (like CITU, INTUC, BMS, AITUC, HMS, UTUC, TUCC, AICCTU etc.) which have called the two-day strike on 20-21 February 2013, have placed the demand of constituting the 7th Central Pay Commission for the Central Govt Employees and announcement of such decision in the ensuing budget, during their meet with Sri P.Chidambaram, Union Finance Minister, on 03.01.2013. The demand has been raised in their joint memorandum submitted to the Finance Minister in the meeting convened for pre-budget consultation. The Trade Unions have also demanded to raise the ceiling of income tax for salaried employees to Rs.5 lac p.a. and exempt fringe benefits like housing, medical and educational facilities.
Adoptation of this demand by the Central Trade Unions is significant especially in the backdrop of the 12.12.2012 strike by the Confederation. Surely, the success and solidarity of the strike has its impact on the Leadership of all the Central Trade Unions and the unity has exhibited the potency of the Central Govt Employees' consistent movement under the banner of Confederation.
This inclusion of our demand in the referred memorandum is a great achievement and recognition of struggle of our brave comrades. Let us propagate the united fight for the success of the strike on 20-21 Fenruary 2013.
